Default E Series HSV??

OK, I've asked the same question on the HSV forums and actually got some honest answers..

My question is, has anyone, ideally those that own, or have owned the 2.5L Sti's, had a decent test of an E-Series HSV, the 6 litre ones? I have heard that they have come a long way from the VT-VZ models and I'm wondering what these peoples opinions of them are.

Please keep the 'WRX's are heaps better than HSV's hey' crap to a minimum. I'm after some constructive comments folks, thanks.

Cheers
Zombee

From the reviews iv read on mags and online - they seem pretty decent. Especially with the GTS.. has 3 way adjustable damper control (track/sport/road)

Black GTS ... so much more of a car then the wrx!

I'd love to feel the low end torque of a new 6 Litre....

Apparently its meant to be bullshit for straight of the showroom floor!

Low end torque ftw!

I've been um'ing and ah'ing over a VE Maloo for a while now. Had a drive of a VZ R8 (Still 6L) Maloo a while back and gave it a flogging, no where near as sure on the road above about 140 as a rex and floates around a bit when you go further, but was still fun. There just not as sharp in general, but the torque is bombed, any corner, almost any gear foot down and happy times!!! (With T/C off of corse )

Cornering is nothing like a rex, however modern commo's can be made to handle very well. New active suspension in the GTS would be good to test out.

From mates and general talking to people who have driven/own the VE's they are much improved over the older models. I'm yet to drive one but will soon.

Yeh BUT, its twice the price so of course you get more. At least you'd want to!

New VE HSV's are bombed. Even the SS's look tough. AFAIK my younger bro is either buying a VE R8 or VE Calais. My old mans trading his wrx on one and actually picks it up tomorrow arvo!

Only issue i can see is lack of boost. 50K at MWS will see that slight issue fixed Cubes AND boost FTW

They arent race cars but not all of us are race car drivers

Yeah, I'm falling for the GTS too, but I'm worried that I'll get one and then after a week think, damn I miss the handling of my STi. But you cant argue with the looks and interior which pretty much shit on my STi.. and then there's that 6 litre V8, which in a week or two is going to be replaced with a 6.2L V8 as HSV change their engines to the LS3.
