Default Sub Woofer - is it needed?

OK, got a few q's on the sub woofer. I've done a search, but couldn't quite get the answers I'm after.

I've got a 10" Alpine Type R Sub that I'm thinking of putting into my STi. Now, I'm wondering if it's really necessary to put a sub into the car at all. Will it make a major difference?

The other (anal) query I have is that the sub weighs 23kgs and I'm concerned that it will a) be extra dead weight b) might move around in the boot on the twisties. So that's why I'm umming and arrhing about putting the sub in at all.

I've got the deck (Eclipse) and some MB Quart splits for the front. I'm going to get the front doors sound deadened for better quality. I'm toying with not doing the back doors from what I've read in the search - so might leave them stock.

Any comments on the sub and back door speakers, do I need them???

Probably will get Alberts Myaree to do the work, unless any gurus want a small install job??

Cheers
Zombee

depends on how much of a sound guru you are...me i love my sound....spent money and competed once apon a time...1 sub wont be too much of an issue in your boot if its secured....i had a solo baric and huge amp in my boot which was nearly 60 kgs all up and didnt really effect it that much.....dont pay alberts to do it....its easy and if you can do it yrself it would be more beneficial...... i could do it but not cheap....six pack sounds good

oh..and did i mention it will sound awesomely fantastically better

put it in a box, screw your amp to the back of the box and use a tie down to keep it in place.
during track days it's a 2 minute job to take out.

if your thinking of adding sound deadening to the doors why are you worried about extra weight in the boot ?

Sub will make a huge difference to way your system sounds... HUGE!

You'll be asking how you ever lived without it

I've got my sub box removable, as it is heavy. If I ever need to lose the weight, it unplugs and comes out easy

Makes a HUGE difference to your music, so I'd recommend it.

I have a big sub in my 350, comes as standard and the sound is pretty good. But my last car was a Magna so anythings going to sound better than that.

if you didnt want to put in a sub you could always go some 6x9's in the back with propperly built ported boxes for them , but it wont be nearly as good as the real thing bass wise

you cant put 6x9's in a WRX. you need to modify the parcel shelf which is a no-no.
