Spoke to the panel beater a few shops down from mine. They repair some of the police department's cars. An Xtrail(speed camera cars) came in the other day with another cop car. They were talking to the panel beater and told him there is going to an extra additional 26 speed cameras going on the road as of today and 4 of them is going to be ran 24hours a day.
Oh the Xtrail got bummed by some other car. got owned At least one down for now... Better watch out!

I'm waiting till they push everyone too far (won't be long) and finally the people's voice may be heard instead of crack heads like Grant Dorrington about road safety.

Speed cameras to be in operation at all hours 25th June 2008, 7:00 WST Speed cameras will soon operate 24 hours a day and will increasingly be placed in country areas after a police review into the use of the devices sparked by claims of revenue raising. Traffic and Operations acting assistant commissioner Steve Brown said Commissioner Karl O’Callaghan had recently requested an audit of speed camera locations in the wake of public debate about whether cameras were being used as a cash cow. He said the review had found that they could be better used in areas and at times of day linked to speedrelated road deaths. Cameras had not been used between late night and early morning but analysis had indicated that many speed-related fatal crashes in WA occurred during this period. “There has been a big debate about revenue raising but we’re not interested in that, we don’t get any of that money from fines,” he said. “But it did create interest from the commissioner about whether we can sharpen the way we use the cameras.” Mr Brown said police had identified a need for more cameras on country roads, mainly because of a big increase in single-vehicle fatalities in regional areas. Get yourself a Escort X50 and speed cameras or multi-money makers as I call them will be reveal themselves to you way before they can flash you.

Turn X off, falses are a small price to pay for the security of picking up cameras and other crap.
Generally you can tell a false and a real signal, reals will increase to full strength quite rapidly. Falses increase slowly and fall off or stay steady at a low-medium strength cameras are KA band. |

So who gets the cash from speed camera fines then?
I always thought it was meant to be put back into the roads to make them safer, but all I find is patchy unsmooth roads everywhere...
