Default Servicing, get your hands dirty or not?

Aloha,

After speaking to alot of wrx owners selling their cars i've found that the majority of them don't have a service histroy? Owners claim to do general servicing themselves, and leave bigger jobs to the garages. Which i can understand entirely- i wouldn't mind changing the oil myself, i'd be likely to do it in smaller intervals then 5000kms seeing as though i'd save a bit of money.

So straight from the owners what do you guys do and why?

Cheers!

Anything to do with the engine I get ASG to do it now. That way, they are responsible for building, tuning and servicing i.e. the whole lot.

Anything I can do myself, I do it at home.

I pretty much do all my own work. I only go elsewhere when I need a hoist.

I do the oil every 5,000 km's and then get log book service when it's due. Although log book service is pretty pointless.

you need more that 2 options for the poll. - something on the other end of the scale. eg why pay a mechanic your hard earned bucks when you can do it yourself...

but yeah, im all for doing things yourself....
i have never taken any of my cars to a mechanic. not even to rebuild an engine..

do somethings myself but sometime it ends up at the mechanics anyways lol things like oil changes are easy enought to do changed my own radiator and a few other simple things but changing gearboxes and clutches are things i leave for a workshop so if they stuff up its on their hands....
