Yes you don`t need to add any mods to the car really(yours being a "tuned by sti"), what I mean by "tuning" is re-tuning the engine via whatever(Ecutek been out for a while...won`t be long before open source stuff and verso get the definition either I should hope).

I have driven a a 2.5 STI car and felt it needed sharpening up a bit, DBW always needs work, power levels need a tweak also !, nothing a re-flash can`t fix ;)
Sat/Nav not available on the Tuned by STi's Dave?

I may possibly be looking to move to something more practical in the relatively near future, and am looking at the Liberty GT Spec B with the 6 speed manual.

My father-in-law has the semi-auto version and it is Very Nice!... Sat/Nav fitted in his though!
Was not offered when I bought the car in June 06. They now offer I believe Sat/Nav but not sure if bluetooth works with macintosh system. Jimmy your welcome to come by office and take mine for a burn if your considering the GT.

yes pretty much agree, my stock 06 pig sti was just that until Sean did the verso flash on it. Much better daily driver then. Can BUS is the issue for verso tuning at present and I am not holding my breath on it or any other open source tuning.

Cheers Dave... May well take you up on the offer... Although there is no way i'll be able to afford the Tuned by STi version... I'll be stretching it to get to the Spec B!! ;)

I am in the market for Spec B or GT also..

Looking at brand new... very nice car IMO
i said in an earlier thread that I was selling my 350z and looking at getting a Golf R32 or a Gti. Well there are none at all in WA so I'm having a think about other options. I had a look at the Liberty Gt tuned by STI at the Car Show and liked it. Not my ideal car, but as an alternative to the R32 it's not a bad option. I'm looking at getting 2nd hand so probably an 07 and my budget will be around 50 - 55k so I think the STI tuned model will be out of reach, but the 2.5l GT is in my price range. Wondering if anyone has much experience driving the Liberties either the 2.5lT or the 3l? How do they compare to the 2.5l WRX performance wise and as a daily driver? Any info appreciated!
there have been 2 versions of the Tuned by STI. one released in 2005/6 and Daves version in 07

the early version carried the 2ltr twin scroll and is in the 45-55k price range... the downside is this version didnt get the brembos or the 6 speed sti gear box... but it was suppose to put out 200kw

I went the other way...

Had an 05 GT Lib (not tuned by Sti) with cat back exhaust, ecutek 3, CAI, and some suspension and cosmetic tweaks. VERY comfortable car to drive, but had a nice bit of boot when you needed it. I decided that I wanted a bit more grunt, so I bought an 06 pig sti with approx $15k mods.

Im my opinion the cars could not be any different!!!

The Sti definitely has the power, but is a bit of a pain as a daily driver (mostly due to the button clutch).

The lib, was smooooooooooth, but a little lacking in the performance department in my view. You had to spend up big to overcome the extra weight, and the mods weren't as well supported as those for the Impreza.

Jimmy S 27-06-2008 02:35 PM

I thought the 05 GT Liberty has the same EJ205 as the WRX?
