Liberty GT

i said in an earlier thread that I was selling my 350z and looking at getting a Golf R32 or a Gti. Well there are none at all in WA so I'm having a think about other options. I had a look at the Liberty Gt tuned by STI at the Car Show and liked it. Not my ideal car, but as an alternative to the R32 it's not a bad option. I'm looking at getting 2nd hand so probably an 07 and my budget will be around 50 - 55k so I think the STI tuned model will be out of reach, but the 2.5l GT is in my price range. Wondering if anyone has much experience driving the Liberties either the 2.5lT or the 3l? How do they compare to the 2.5l WRX performance wise and as a daily driver? Any info appreciated!

That would describe me. Previous car 06 STI Versofied, now 07 GTB STI.

How much power and torque did you Lib make on asg dyno Dave ? What turbo`s are on the 2 models you have owned ?

My 05 Lib GT(wagon) 2.0 made 185Kw and 340nm after verso and a few other mods ...

From what I can tell the Lib is ~130Kg heavier(my 2.0 with 6speed and R180 brembo`s all round 1529Kg with 1/3 tank of fuel, wagon, but sedan is no lighter from all reports) than a GD STI WRX, the lib suspension and chassis make it a much smoother car, wrx feels a little more nibble but less luxo, more harsh. 1/4 mile times are about the same std Lib GT to std WRX(not sti) very high 13`s just under 100mph trap.

05 is also nice, can pick up a good example for 35k easily

VF43 on the pig which made 187 kw atw and 360 Nm once ASG did their magic. The Lib is stock as a rock and would be 130 kw atw tops.

The pig just had whiteline flatouts for looks compared to stock Bilstein/sti pinks on the Lib. The pig was much more fun to drive but nowhere close as comfortable for long drives. The lip on my pig got smashed around plenty but I have no such issue with current stock set-up in the Lib. Speedbumps are not an issue for me now.

Previous Pig STI

mmm black looks nice, grill is sweet too....

Ok so the "tuned by STI" is good enough you feel ?

Gonna take it down the strip(good as a dyno !)...just to see what it will do !?..and I`m interested to know what they are capable of ;)

My Enkei`s should be here soon, they are a sweet rim.

Everything is there in terms of potential, Ecutek flash is available for them as well now. No complaints with mine at all although sat/nav bluetooth is lacking.

Jimmy S 26-06-2008 07:49 AM

Sat/Nav not available on the Tuned by STi's Dave?

I may possibly be looking to move to something more practical in the relatively near future, and am looking at the Liberty GT Spec B with the 6 speed manual.

My father-in-law has the semi-auto version and it is Very Nice!... Sat/Nav fitted in his though!
