MURTAYA arrives in Australia
Hi All,
Well, last Monday was a special day for us, as we received the very first container with 2 Murtaya kits inside :D Here's some pics and I'll update from time to time for those interested  The first kit is going together as we speak to see how it all fits and then we'll take it apart to paint. |
Very nice, would be very interested to see the progress!

Its been a long wait Paul for the kits too arrive. Good stuff on getting them here in Australia mate! I reckon they could be a bit of a dark horse, maybe even slightly under estimated as a decent competetive platform!

Heli's ftw!!!! Looks great. What does a completed car weigh? Must be not much over 1100kg surely
|
geezus if its over 1100kg is way too heavy for the style of car it is.
you do realise the 2000 wrx was 1250kg? :) I've never heard of them before they sure look pretty, but are they any good? :-\ I know BIRKINS kick arse at around 550kg http://www.birkin.com.au/My_First_Drive_In_A_Birkin.php and by comparison Westfields are pretty average coming it at 800kg. |
Heli's ftw!!!! Looks great. What does a completed car weigh? Must be not much over 1100kg surely
from the unofficial FAQ
...is light, despite the fact that it is AWD and a convertible (weighing in at about the same as a 2000lb Lotus Elise--and that's in road trim).
900kg or so |
A mate of mine went to their open day last year (can't remember which track in the UK) and he was very impressed with the performance and build quality. I'd be interested to hear if this is going to be road rego'd or just for track/competition use.
Will be following this thread closely! |
^^^^^^^^^ Whs :) Like to kwo if you can road reg and Targa spec etc....
|
I thought cricket season was over?

Registering Interest.
What is the ballpark figure for a complete kit (minus the wrx bit of course) landed in Perth? From my limited reading it just requires assembly with all the parts from your donor car and painting? Cheers Mark |
You shipped a lot of air in that container Paul, room in there for 4 Murtaya's!
|
Vents were sealed probably :P
|
900kg or so
Thinking about it some more I guess with no stereo, no sound deadening, no rear seats, no rear doors or hinges, no extra floor pan, no air con, no extra glass and plenty of carbon fibre it should shave off a few pounds :D Still looks the sex :tongue9: |

Cheers Mark No worries, you can pop down to the shop and have a look, I have 2 complete kits here. Like you say, it just requires some paint (inc fitting the external parts) and the donar car. The kit is designed to use the GC model but you can mix and match with all the models. The complete kit minus paint/build and donar will go for around $37k
You shipped a lot of air in that container Paul, room in there for 4 Murtaya's!
Your so right there Doug :( I wished I'd known about it before but from now on there will be 4 in every 20ft container and if there's anough sales we'll start looking at 40 footers. Have you seen the Carbon Fibre version? Race use only but lighter again :D |
Any updates on how this is progressing? Pictures?
Really interested in how it all goes through ADR and licensing in the end. Cheers Mark |

Bumpity bump!!!
whats the story? |
Sorry guys I haven't been on the website for while...
Latest update. The demo is coming together nicely, a bit slow but as it's our first one and also the time zone difference makes it a bit difficult to call the UK and get some of the important stuff sorted on the spot. Once this demo is done, anyone else wishing to build one will have us and the demo car to ask and see. The demo is looking great and 99% of the mechanical are in place. We currently have some of the mechanical parts away at their various shops having the slight modifications done. We have pretty much got all bits and bobs sorted for the interior and exterior and we hope by the end of April to have the demo out on the road for its first test run. Here are some of the latest pics |

Bump... update?
|
after finding this thread link off ozfoz, it reminded me we all need an update :D
|
Guessing still no updates?
|
Paul is in the middle of moving his workshop to Rockingham where he now lives, I don't think the car has got a lot further than the last update and he no longer frequents this site.
|
......no more updates? T__T
|
sooooooooo ugly
|
A very heavy heart
Sorry for not updating earlier but I very rarely come on P-WRX anymore, which is a shame as I meet some great people and really enjoyed getting out in the 22B on the cruises but after the big move to Rocko and a couple of life changing things at home, our beloved Murtaya is on the market. I really would love to see this car on the road but time and funds are not on my side. If anyone is interested in building this up, please see my for sale thread. I'd be very willing to help with anyone that wishes to put it together.

real shame paul, are you keeping the 22b ?
|
real shame paul, are you keeping the 22b ?
Yeah, it's a huge shame as I love this kitcar. I've been a big fan of kit cars since I first got my licence but I went halves in these kits from the UK and both my friend and I are no longer working away. Which means these cars would take even longer to get on the road. Most definitely be keeping the 22B. I have a lot more cars to sell off before it would get to that. I personally are not at point to sell the Murtaya but my friend is and if I was in a better position, I would have brought out his share. |
