Default Permit's/Licensing

Hey all, I'm unsure if it's changed since previous times as all these new laws and regulations have come in.

I handed the plates in for my GC8 last week, and de-rego'd it as it has had a expired yellow for a few months and has been sat in the workshop for a few months also.

Now, to re-license it, I need a permit to drive to pits don't I? Now if I get a permit, are they only allowed to be used to drive from point A to point B OR can I use this for how ever long I get the permit for to drive anywhere?

Previously, on my S13's I have had a permit for a few days and been able to drive plate less anywhere, as long as the permit is valid (around 2004/2005).

Can somebody please help me out, as the DPI are a bunch of retards who don't know what they're on about.

Saying this as I spent 30 minutes waiting on Friday, and the women said 'I'll put you through to someone who knows...waited another 10 minutes then threw the power rangers out my pram and hung up.

Thanks, Jason.

lol sorry to hear the monster gauge mobile is no longer road worthy!

yeah you can buy permits, no limit to the amount ya want for $17 each, ive been pulled up by cops though, but got away because i had the permits,

you can only drive the car from a to b.... IF A = your home and B= the workshop to where your car will be fixed or such, you cant drive the car around to pick up parts

hope this helps ya man, and good luck getting the beaut back on the road

yeah permits are only allowed to be used from either home to workshop, home to license centre or workshop to license centre. i rang and enquired about a month ago cause we needed to move an unlicensed car to a new address, car had to be towed...

You can always get around things. If you have somewhere you "need" to take it, when you book the permit tell them. Say the car is in malaga and it need to go to the auto electrician in freo, then it needs tint removed in osborne park, then it needs wheel alignment in welshpool then to the pits in warwick the following day. You are then allowed to travel the most direct route between any of these places. Also you can book the permit over the phone and they will just give you a number to write down. This is what you need to show a cop if pulled over.

Whilst you are on the phone getting a permit to drive it pay for the inspection permit at the same time, saves pissing around at the office when you get there, just get in line & wait with your car until it's inspected & quote the recipt number.

Thanks man, never knew you could do that!

Anyone know what re-licensing costs? Not that I give a fuck but I don't have a ATM card at the moment and need to go bank the day before I TRY get it licensed.

Cheers lads.
