Default Potholes!

Was driving home this arvo and due to the rain there is many potholes about so i try to avoid them at all costs!. But today on the way home there was one in my lane to the left so i dodge it swerving towards the right then bam there was another towards the Right (about the size of a pumkin), so my right hand tyres hit it. Just wondering if im gonna wake up tommorow mornning with a lump in my tyre ,cause ive known some people to have eggs in the tyres in the past after these nasty buggers.

If it was going to happen it would soon, as the tyre gets colder and contracts slightly. If you hit it that hard I would be more worried about the inside of your rim being all pushed in. You may not be able to see it from the outer neither.

you should see some of the ones on riverside drive. most have been filled in now but coming from the casueway onto riverside drive there was a huge one with no way around it. people used to fly over it, i had to slow down at crawling pace just to get over it it was that deep

ive noticed heaps lately so annoying to swerve around them all especially in heavy traffic sometimes you have no choice but to go over it...just out of curiosity what causes it? Does the excess moisture in the ground cause it to shift and an air pocket develops and the constant weight of the cars going over it break the asphalt???

Hi,

They don't even fix potholes down here. They just wait until someone in a hire car Corolla falls in and can't get out.

Cheers,
Nik
