Default Aps Cai

Hi,

Is anyone on here running the APS cold air intake on a MY99/00, I have a STI and was after some feedback :-

. Are they worth the $400.00 when installing with the unichip.

. Any bad experiences.

I have a Vf34 and AVO TMIC and have been told the standard intake is stiffling performance.

Cheers

u might wanna consider a custom made S/S CAI made by RMS, cheaper than the APS one or get a home made cold air duct using PVC pipes. got some if need some PVC

My my99 has a APS CAI and unichip. $400 for the CAI was probably not good value as would only give 2 to 5 extra kw. I got mine used off this forum for $240. With a vf34 and bigger IC it is becoming worth doing. No downside in my experience just a ghastly noise from the blow off valve. Some people like hearing the intake noise. As blackmy03 says you do not need big name equipment for this, you can DIY.

Try buying one separately from PSI. I found they were much cheaper than Formaz. A fair bit less than $400. I did buy mine quite a while back though so I can't remember the exact price.

Yes, it's a cheap yet effective alternative, and usually if you do it right, the engine still looks stock. Thats if your worried about it for insurance or police inspection purposes.
