This would explain that stupid letter telling us not to drive on the limiter and refering to the owners hand book. As these start breaking for a second time they will blame the driver and say we were warned.

With so many broken I dont see how they can blame the drivers though. Like the car is "driven" on the limiter.

Sounds like its better to swap out the pistons before it breaks, then mods away.

Interestingly it seems to be an MY08 problem and not MY06/07...one would have to ask if FHI have changed something in the production of the MY08 engine....cost savings?

I think the pistons are made out of recycled AC cola cans from the way the are breaking ring lands.

No more like an ECU calibration issue.

As the fuel resume figures were changed to specific values.

Was this change to specific values made between 07 and 08 or was it from the origional 08 software to the current "updated" version?

Ahh ok.

I think the issue is that some cars with the "ringland fix" have still broken ringlands, hense the crappy pistons comments.
