Same as the O.P for me - Althought it seems the guy in my complex with an 04 STI likes to hit limiter about 30 seconds after startup down the driveway and onto the road, what a fag.

Warm up whilst setting up radar detector, ECUdatascan, and trapster and tunes. No boost and 2500 rpm until 63 degrees C . . . then it's on for young and old.

Wait for the cold start idle to wear off, then I drive it easy until the temp gauge is up to normal temperature.

My neighbour does this with his cammed up black VE SS.. leaves strips on the way out even with a cold motor.

STUPID.

Gay cold start + 272's = no idle for me.

I'm getting good at feathering the clutch, accelerator and handbrake in order to keep the car running whilst rolling backwards out of the garage and onto the road at enough of an angle to not rip my front bumper off.

EDIT: To answer the original question, I don't let my car idle to warm up at all.
Gearbox, brakes and tyres are just as important, so I do it on the road.

I do the same, the EVO runs at higher revs when it is cold. So I wait for the revs to drop before driving anywhere.

Ignition on + limiter.

Warranty can work it out when it fails. :D

Takes about 5 minutes for the cold start idle to wear off for me - Quicker if your drive it easily for a few mins.

So you wait in your garage for 5+ mins fort that to wear off first? It's an Evo! I'm sure if it could talk, it would say, please lets stop waiting and get the f on with it. ;)

I'm a girl, it takes me at least 5 minutes every morning to get everything I need for the day in the car. :P

I drive it right away but until the water temp is in the normal range it's like I have an eggshell on the accelerator pedal. Definitely don't go over 3000 rpm. When it's really cold I'm even more careful.
