New rotors / pads

OK, so I think I need new pads and rotors for my 07 STi. I've done a search and the concensus seems to be to go with DBA5000 rotors and Ferodo 2500 pads. Cars done 20,000km and the brakes were squeaking like a bastard on the way home from the AHG on Sunday.

Where do you guys recommend to get them for a good price? Supercheap or Auto-one OK?? I was going to get RT to fit them.

Cheers
Zombee:)

Change the brake fluid too while your at it.

Pointless changing the rotors until you have worn the old ones out. After 20k km I doubt you have fritzed them yet. Think they can be worn from 30mm new down to 28mm before replacing.

Mine had 45K km ( With some fun ) on them before replacing and were still 28.5 mm. Jus cos you need new pads doesn't mean the rotors are stuffed.

True.. I'll check that out. Just doing the pads will be a whole heap cheaper than rotors as well.

Cheers mate

Got my Rotors DBA5000 from Zanteknik on Rexnet, found him to have the best price. I recommend Endless CCrg for the front pads and CCrx for the rears, very good pad if you don't mind a bit of squeal which you will get with the Ferodo's anyway.

Castrol Response Super Dot 4 Brake Fluid is what your after.

About $12.

Everything else is overpriced and overkill.

Ferodo 2500's will squeal a fair bit. If you're not too phased then do it, otherwise steer towards a pad which is less orientated for track. But if you can deal with the noise, it's a good all round street/track pad.

Absolutely untrue!!! Top quality (and I mean TOP quality) fluid is absolutely essential especially for Brembo calipers....fluid should definitely not be something you compromise on. I use and recommend the Brembo LCF600 Plus which is around $90 per bottle.
Dom, pad squeal will happen with most pads after some track work. I think for your purpose the DS2500 would be the best option. And I agree that the rotors only need to be replaced if they've worn too much. It may be useful to get them checked for glaze and have them skimmed if neccessary.
Shop around for DS2500 but both Perth Brake Parts and Maximum Motorsport offer discounts to IWRXOC members.

I'm about to get my DBA4000 skimmed and more (new) 2500 pads on. It's a great combo I think. Yeah, there's certainly some squeel from the pads early morning etc, but I find it's worth it for the on street and light track performance they provide.

We've run 2500's on both stock rotors and DBA 4000's and never really had any squealing (Both 05 WRX and 05 STI).
Keep the stock rotors if they're not worn. I've found the stock rotors with 2500's and the Brembo fluid mentioned above to be a good combo for street and track.
