Default Car Modifying Textbooks

Hi all,

I am going to start to modify my WRX next year, but before I begin I would like to understand more about the modifying / tuning of the car. Can anyone recommend any good books about modifying? They don't need to be WRX specific as I am after more technical reasons for modifying which can then be applied to other cars (i.e. "everyone" says to get a 3" exhaust for a WRX, but I would like to know more of why the 3" is the best size).

I would like to get some good knowledge before starting to choose the correct modifications for how I wish to use the car (and to not feel like a n00b all the time )

Cheers,

John.

Just ask for a copy of the invoices from [WRXRW] and [EXPLICIT] and that pretty much is a WRX modification text book.

Forced Induction Performance Tuning
By: Graham Bell

He also does a few other books outling "basic" concepts of performance tuning. A heavy read, but worthwhile if you intend to get very serious.

Corky Bell also writes good forced induction reference books.
Maximum Boost is one of them from memory.

I dont think they are related. Corky is American and I thing Graham is Australian. Just coincidental that they share surname (unless it is a conspiracy!)

Hope that helps.

Car Modifying Textbooks are useless, they all talk about general terms and don’t apply to any specific modification. Subaru engines are totally controlled by a ECU one has to be real careful and knowing what to do before attempting to make your rice burner faster. Before you break you valet and mortgage your ‘sitting checks’ establish first what you want to achieve whilst taking in consideration that it will lessen the life of your engine.

I think you will find better information HERE on these forums. Just ask... if it isnt already answered in the search function.
