Default Oil Spill

Spilt motor oil in my boot and the carpet has soaked up all the oil
Ive taken it out and try to remove the oil with a brush and soap but still has oil in there.
Any tips on how to remove the oil out of the carpet ?

cheers

Jim

not sure if this will work on carpet but you could try degreaser on a small spot and see how it goes.

Degreaser to lift the oil out of the carpet.

Then HOT soapy water to wash out the degreaser then air dry the carpet out of the car.

Set it on fire, oil will burn out of carpet.

Had this prob with my car. Best fix was new carpet. I tried cleaning it but it kept bleeding back through.

Was it a spill of new oil? or used motor oil?

New motor oil doesnt stink so bad and is easy enough to get out. If it was used motor oil, then yeah get a new carpet for your boot.

New carpet.

Or, if you're a tight arse, steal one:

- Go to Subaru, take the same model car as yours for a test drive.

- Pop the bootlid when the salesman isn't looking, and make sure its closed but unlatched.

- Go back after hours, open the boot and take the carpet out.

High pressure cleaner, WD40 sprayed over the oily bit & a heap of kitchen detergent on top of that........pretty much removes anything.
