Why it's not 100km/h astounds me. Oh that's right people can't merge for shit and don't know which lane they need to be in early enough. In saying that, if you don't speed, you won't get stung. Not to get on my high-horse either as I have been caught speeding on the Farmer Freeway. And Wanneroo Rd. And the Brand Hwy. And Mitchell Fwy. And Gnangara Rd......

On Tuesday, nine drivers were clocked travelling at 100km/h or more, including a 46-year-old Mt Lawley man at 107km/h, a 28-year-old Bayswater woman at 106km/h and an 82-year-old Forrestfield man at 101km/h. A 22-year-old Carine man, driving on a suspended licence after a drink-driving conviction, had his Holden ute impounded for a month and was fined after being caught driving at 101km/h.
Im amazed that out of the four example only one fitted the 'hoon' stereotype. I expected the WA tabloid papers/websites to do better.

i think some people need to take less notice of these tabloid media sources & just use some common sense.
its pretty simple, a fucking hoon is a fucking hoon no matter what they drive or how old they are.
i should know, ive been 1 since 1987

The dude with the drink driving conviction is a complete moron for drawing attention to himself by speeding. Half a brain and he would never have been caught for under suspension. Guess some people are just idiots.

The rest just go to prove ( and I'm sure if you took a survey of road users ) that the Graham Farmer freeway is quite capable of safely supporting a 100kp/h limit. Perhaps with a variable limit during peak hour ( lets think outside the square here WA ). In fact a variable limit on all 3 of the freeways would be a good thing if the upper limit was raised to 120 during quiet times.

Wow!!! They managed to catch someone doing 107kph in that "raceway" ?

If the police PR department didn't write these stories and hand them to lazy journos/editors, this would not make the news.

i think 80 is fine (especially thru the tunnel), they have to set the limit for the worst case - medium to high traffic volumes.

the only place i think supports 100 is when going west after crossing gt eastern, but then i think drivers are far less lkely to slow down for the sharp (for 100kays) right hander - with merge - into the tunnel, which due to poor design/construction has permanent fucking puddles/water in it.
so to me for the short time difference between going from gt eastern to tunnel entrance at 100 vs 80 is outweighed by the higher potential for more clowns to crash.
then leaving the tunnel, still going west you have a pretty serious elevation change (& a merge of 2 lanes into 1 - even with perfect merging practice the traffic will bank up) which severly limits sight lines for 100kays imo.

going into the tunnel heading east there are a couple of merging lanes & i dont think its worth doing 100 there either.
so from inside the tunnel going east, 100 could be done, but i personally dont trust most of the drivers on the road & due to the nature of a tunnel i dont think the risk is worth it.
from the exit of the tunnel (after the l/hand bend) to gt eastern is one area that could be 90 or 100 but its such a short run i can see why they didnt bother - what would be the time difference at 80 vs 100? get there 30sec quicker? 50 sec? - big deal imo.
