Default Washer motor and Oil

Heya,

just wondering if anyone has DIYed the washer motor, and can you provide info to do this....

im also servicing the car this weekend, been reading thru the threads, not sure on which oil to use on a stock GC8 MY00. so far what ive got from these threads are either use:
- Mobil Delvac mx extra 10w-40
- Mobil Syn S 10w-40
- Castrol R 10w-60 or
- Mobil1 5w-50.

Can someone plz advise...

What do you want to do to the washer motor? Has it stopped working? If it has go and buy another one from the wreckers. They are a sealed unit AFAIK

Thanks

Brendon

Either of these two Semi-Synth's will be best on a MY00.
Both best for big end bearing protection.

-Mobil Delvac mx extra 10w-40
-Mobil Syn S 10w-40

Are you talking about the windscreen washer motor ?
Question is a bit ambiguous.

You wont find any Mobil Synth S 10w-40 anymore
it has been renamed Mobil Super 2000 X2
be sure to get the one with the X2 in the name

knowing the type of driving you are doing will help people recommend an oil to best suit your needs.
short runs?, long runs?, motorsport?

Without even knowing the application, this old girl would benefit from some serious big end protection. Castrol R 10w-60 will not hurt your motor whilst providing maximum protection for an aging motor. The added benefit of being a full synthetic will help reduce wear over any mineral or semi synth oil. Its not as expensive as some Fully Synthetics and can be had on special for around $69 bucks a change...a bargain in "The Castle" terms. Use a lighter oil on this older motor at risk of incurring a $6000 "I told u so".

Can i add some advice and say, from recent events Mobil 1 Synth 10w40 is proberly good for every day use, but if you plan to see a track day or more, i suggest something more viscous then 10w40. Learnt the hard way.
