Default new seating and child restraint laws

http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/stor...9-2761,00.html

Quote:
There are no laws against more passengers being carried in a vehicle than the available seat-belted positions.

Under the new laws, only passengers sitting in a seat fitted with a seat belt or child restraint will be permitted to be carried in the vehicle.
about time for the locals.

I understand for cars not originally fitted with seat belts but anyone not belting in a modern car up or worse not belting up anyone ( Kids or Disabled ) who are not capable of making a decision for their own safety should be hauled over the coals.

Hoon laws and the way they get applied are bulls&^t but I do applaud the DUI car confiscation and laws such as this restraint law as a major positive for road safety

I think laws pertaining to no seat belt, sitting in an open load space etc should be removed. People who don't wear a seatbelt obviously don't care.
