Motec and disconnecting battery?
Hi guys,
Was wondering wat effect disconnecting the car battery would have on my Motec M800. I need to do this to install my audio system. I'm not sure if the Motec has an internal battery and whether the maps would be lost if power was cut. If it's safe to do so, how long can I disconnect the battery for? Any help from ppl with aftermarket ECU's esp Motec would be great. Cheers Ren. |

No effect at all. Go for your life.
If you want to be paranoid, go to your workshop and get them to suck the map off it. I've personally had my motec out of the car for about 4 months, and its still got the map in it. geoff |

Flash, pete (i believe) - the motec boards are really high density pinned surface mount with laquer on, so it's hard to tell - but i think all the onboard memory for logging, maps and everything is flash.

There is a $250 fee to unlock the 'Store Map in Flash' feature on Motec.
