Default Anyone know the history of this 1996 wrx??

Hi all,

Looking at buying this 96 wrx (see link below). The owner says it has an STi motor and box in it but he didn't do it himself and cant tell me much about it.

Whats the easiest way to find out what motor it is exactly?

Anyone know the history of this car?

Thanks,
Doyle.

not worth it for 12.5k

check engine number (on the block, not on the plate) + gear box number.

Could be worth having a chat to Racetorque. Apparently they tuned it. Possibly quote the number plate, a lot of workshops reference the number plate on job cards etc.
Or take a photo in to them.

Looks ok.
Sounds like a good buy.
For $12k , what else could you get that's 4wd, looks good, sounds nice and would probably do a high 12 or 13.

Thanks guys, will do a bit of digging around today. The seller told me all he really knows about the motor is its a 96-99 sti motor. So not a 207, although hes under the impression it has forgies.

The other thing is, the seats are not the usual wrx or sti seats, the are a lot more like what you would expect to find in a non turbo impreza. Made me think along the lines of wrx conversion but the VIN is a wrx VIN so all good?
