Unhappy 2009 exhaust

hi guys and gals,im new to this forum and im a first time wrx owner.Im enjoying the car but im already looking for a good exhaust.
I need the sound not to be too loud as my wife has to drive it aswell but i would like a bit more performance.
Can anyone surgest an exhaust place that is good and reasonable?
I got a quote from maximum performance today and with a custom made exhaust and a custom tune they wanted $4200.
A bit steep if you ask me.I am a realist and i know mods arent cheap(i had a xr6 turbo with 515rwhp)but i think $4200 is a bit much or am i out of touch?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers Woody.

$4200 is definitely one of the more expensive options!
Another option is to choose your own exhaust and get Allstar Garage (ASG) to Verso tune your ECU for $990.
I'm not sure about fitment on the MY09 but I suggest that you speak to ASG in Malaga.

There are a heap of options out there (eg: China Spec Exhaust for $600 plus labour, ASG spec exhaust for around $1100, X-Force systems from $1100 onwards, Butler for just under $2000 etc.) but I'm not sure what fits the MY09.

Hopefully someone else can help you out with specific experience with the 08/09 models but don't stress, you don't have to spend $4000 on an exhaust + tune!!

I have a Turbo XS TBE fitted to my 08 WRX, cost me about $1200 however I did go for the option of an ECUtek tune (which was the only thing available when I tuned my car) and this cost me $2000.

The exhaust is great, nice note without being too loud. Check out there website
http://www.turboxs.com.au
They seem to have 09 sedan systems on there and a few videos and audio of the sound

I didn't think of that; can you Verso tune 08/09 ECUs?

Might be a good idea to speak to ASG first, as I'm 99.99% sure 08/09's have been tuned.

That $4K+ option sounds like one of the MRT 'power up' kits? If you were planning on spending that sort of money I reckon you could get a lot more value shopping around and buying the bits yourself.

Hitech in Sydney do a quality exhaust and even advertise one for MY09 WRX
http://www.hitechmufflers.com.au/pro...F+STi&b=subaru

Verso flash tune at ASG for $990 on top should see the total cost kept under $3K I reckon.

If you wanted to keep the price down a bit more then just get a centre pipe made locally. Nik at ASG can do this for you.
