Hah.

I sold my very low 12 second (and probably 11), running perfectly, custom painted yellow WRX for 24k 2 months ago.

I don't want to be rude - but you're probably dreaming by wanting 26k for a not-running fairly standard 00 WRX

those sales must not have been recent. or they sold the car's to people with absolutely no clue in pricing. and if you were hoping to get someone with no idea on pricing of a car, i doubt they would be ballsy enough to buy a car to fix up themselves.

I jus been through this after one of my pistons melted, not sure bout an sti conversion, but was i was lookin at 96 sti front cuts for a bit over 4g, dunno how much labour would be, 2.5L, if you are interested, was bout the same from what I remember.
If you were goin to sell it, the second hand motor is prolly the cheapest way. I rebuilt mine, purely coz I wanted to keep my car and I kno now i'll never have engine problems.

If your thinkin of sellin why not jus put a std wrx motor in it?

You'll be laughin' all the way to the bank. Just like Ice Cube, MC Ren and Eazy-E - comin' straight outa redbook:

Prices based on km 90,000 - 150,000
Trade in price guide* $16,000 - $18,500
National average price - private sale* $19,600 - $23,100
Price when new (RRP) $40,240

You could get lucky you know - the guy who bought my old car didn't even take it for a test drive - the motor coulda been pinging it's head off & gearbox crunching & he wouldn't have known about it till after.

For the record, my old car was in perfect nick - just proving the point that some people are lacking when it comes to buying cars.
