A car can be what ever you want to call it, but when you sell it then the car is only what the plates say it is. No more no less.. You can tell the seller whatever story on how it came to be, but once the plates are checked it is what it is.

So am I correct in assuming its impossible to road register an original S202 straight from Japan, there is absolutely no other way but to change the shell?

personal import, live with it for a year over there proof of ownership..jump through the hoops, provide service records, fuel recipts all that shiz to prove you actually lived and owned it, then bring it here...thats how my Version 3 RA made it to Aus and is A regoed

you can go and live in japan for a year and buy the car as soon as you get there & bring it home with you as a personal import

I call mine an S204, cause it is one. I couldn't give a rats second arsehole if purists think otherwise. It's a japanese car with next to no real motorsport heritage so the value is in the eye of the beholder. Things might be different in 40 years when it 'might' be deemed a collector, i won't hold onto it long enough to care.
