You know Ken Block as the star of those Gymkhana videos, which have made this corn-fed American rally driver an internet celebrity on YouTube. Usually seen whipping his trademark Subaru WRX STi around an abandoned airport and through empty hangars, Block makes the difficult task of rally driving look downright easy. From now on, however, you'll be seeing him do his thing in a Ford rather than a Subaru.

The 42-year-old driver announced today that not only will he be driving Fords from now on, but in addition to competing in the Rally America Championship and X Games like always, he will also compete on the rally world's biggest stage: the World Rally Championship. Block will reportedly be the first American driver to compete in WRC, and to get the job done he's formed a new rally team with sponsors Ford, Monster Energy Drink, DC Shoes (the company Block co-founded), the video game Dirt2 and Castrol Edge.

What will Block be driving in 2010 if not a WRX STi? He'll be behind the wheel of a Focus RS prepared by M-Sport for the WRC and Ford's new rally Fiesta when off-roading in America for the RAC and X-Games. We don't know which Ford he'll drive in the next Gymkhana video, but rest assured because we're told there will be another.

figured i'd merge all kens threads into one.

Having Msport onside means that he will have a car (probably an 09 car) but one which has the ability to win the WRC (Hirvonnen was pretty close) but also one which a lot of drivers are currently using so we can see just how bad he is on the world stage (think- al khassimi)

His fiesta is being prepared by Olsbergs, they prepared the Pikes Peak car that Gronholm drove last year ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZ-hQMYRI2M ) and also the car that Kenny Brack beat every other american "rally racer" in at the XGames last year ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37BnDUm7yXk ).

I think with a true WRC prepped car from Olsberg he will dominate the American Rally series, but being up against a bunch of people who have been driving WRC cars a lot longer on the world stage he will be as successfull as Rossi.

time will tell though I guess

He'll get caned. You don't win at WRC level by being able to put together a few videos in slow mo.

He's only been successful in the states because he and Pastrana have budgets well in excess of what the rest of the RA field can muster.
