vf35 vs td05

hey guyes thinking of upgraiding my turbo and was after some advice which is a better turbo looking for a bit more mid range power?

Bruce 16-02-2010 09:16 AM

td05-16g - more mid/top end over VF35

for economics, vf35 hands down.
bolt-in, cheap to replace, and capable of 360 odd hp with the right treatment.

I thought they were relatively restricted in power by the small exhaust wheel.
What treatment do they require to get that kind of hp?
Are you talking supporting mods (injectors etc) or mods to the turbo itself (p18's etc)
What boost?

I think Stace meant this kind of treatment:

360 odd maybe for you but no-one else so saying that is pretty pointless and misleading

Matt id go a vf34 and if you wanted bit more top end go P20 housing best bang for buck me thinks

VF35 with a p18 exhaust housing is a vf30.

IHI VF 24/28/29 ----- 410 CFM at 14.7 PSI
IHI VF 23 ------------- 423 CFM at 14.7 PSI
FP STOCK HYBRID -- 430 CFM at 14.7 PSI
IHI VF-30 ------------- 435 CFM at 14.7 PSI
SR 30 ----------------- 435 CFM at 14.7 PSI
IHI VF-22 ------------ 440 CFM at 14.7 PSI

VF30
The VF30 is commonly considered the best bang for the buck turbo in the IHI VF series line. A relatively new model the VF30 features the same exhaust housing as the VF24 but a larger compressor side similar to the VF22. The combination of these two parts results in increased output potential without the lag associated with the VF22. Although it doesn't offer the top end supremacy of the VF22, the VF30 is a great compromise between these unit and the quicker spooling models.

VF35
The VF35 has identical internals as the VF30 and it uses divided thrust bearings. However, the exhaust housing is a P15 which means this turbo will have fantastic spool characteristics.

I'm planing on doing a vf35/p18 soon so i'll let you know how it goes.......plan to run near 1.5 bar.

hardly misleading. if your prepared to screw in the boost. reep the rewards.

thanks guyes think ill settle for a vf35 with a p18 or p20 housing but found out today that my fuel pump is not working proply so have to get that done before i can go any further
