Some more info.

'There is an additional 30mm of ground clearance, 16-inch alloy wheels and an exclusive body kit including front grille and bumper, roof rails, roof spoiler and side cladding. Distinct earthy tones are used on the inside to complete the crossover look of the vehicle including sporty bucket seats with mocha accents, stitching and door inserts. Standard features include cruise control, a 10 speaker audio system, Bluetooth, USB connection and front fog lamps.
The Impreza XV has been very competitively positioned against competitor crossover vehicles with its impressive list of standard equipment and a RRP of $27,490 for manual and $29,490 for the automatic. There is also the option of an electric sunroof for an additional $1,500.
The Impreza XV will be available in five colours:
• Obsidian black
• Satin White
• Spark Silver
• Dark Grey
• Camellia Red
During the first month of production Subaru will be ordering 100 units in Paprika Red Pearl as a special release.'

so basically this is filling the sub $30k soft-roader type gap that is being filled by 2WD versions of other makes (Nissan, Toyota etc etc).

Probably not a bad idea.

I agree, can't wait to see one on the 'metal' so to speak.
Although I am really excited about the diesel. Hopefully we are getting that model as well, not just the petrol.

You guys still don't get it, do you? Subaru are in the business of selling cars and making money, not of keeping a tiny corner of a niche market happy.

Agreed - and like Nissan (GTR) if they make money with the everyday cars they can afford to keep the tiny niche market happy also.

But surely they can do a better job like this..every car manufacturer has an "edge" they bring to the car scene...subaru seems to be loosing theirs by becoming just another generic car manufacturer...ferrari, lambo, porshe..ect would never compromise "who they are" to make a few more sales..needless to say quality is also compromised when you turn generic..
