Default 2002 STI vs 2003-2005 STI

Hi all,

I've done a quick search already to no avail...

I have been in the market for an 03-05 STI but have recently seen a couple of cheap 02 STIs for sale.

Just need to confirm that mechanically, an 02 STI is the same as a 03-05 STI, except for minor ecu tuning differences and different wheel PCD right?

Basically if all the sti models from 02-05 are mechanically the same then i guess it opens up more availability....

Also did 02 STIs ever come with leather?

Thanks in advance all.

02-05 STi/I basically the same mechanically BUT the main difference is the 05 had DCCD and 114.3 PCD and 02,3, 4 had 100 PCD (and no DCCD).
02 had best seats.

Mechanically, 02 STi is the same as 03 and 04 STi
05 STi is where the big upgrades were

05 STi VS 02-04 Sti

DCCD 6 speed (Adjustable Center Diff) VS non adjustable Viscous 4Kgf Center diff
Torsen Helical front LSD VS Suretrac front LSD
Plated 2 way rear LSD VS Suretrac rear LSD
5x114.3 PCD hubs with larger bearings and strut brackets VS 5x100 PCD
8 inch wide wheels with 235/45R17 VS 7.5 inch wide wheels with 225/45R17 Tyres

I think the 05 Sti also got alloy rear arms

And the 05 STi got rear wheel arch extensions

Wow quick response...thanks a lot...

Yeah i figured if i was going to track it at least once every month i could save some dollars and just go for a bugeye...

Do you guys think that difference in PCD is a big issue? I just know that it means it could be easier or harder to find rims depending on the PCD?

They are just plastic covers, doesn't extend the arches as such still makes it look a shit load better though.
