Thanks eric.Daz any info regarding kit car laws would be great cos if its possible it shall be done and it won,t be like the shitbox that was on Top Gear with the alpha motor!!!! If a job,s worth doing its worth doing right.Re the get a bike comments i have a drz 400 for pissing around on in the bush, i used to have a Fireblade back in Ireland but there is no way i would have a road bike over here as 80% of drivers over here are in a trance when driving and skippy dosen,t know the highway code!!!!

_daz_ 02-05-2010 09:25 PM

quick question...

will you be intending using the car for purely track/fun purposes or preferrably registered for daily use?

ps...still messing with the old PC, i'm determined to make it work again (=

steve harkness 02-05-2010 09:30 PM

I really would like to have it as a daily drive if possible, because i am prepared to throw a lot of money at it to do a really good build i feel its pointless to spend shitloads and not have full rego.

_daz_ 02-05-2010 09:38 PM

i am determined to give you what info i can get...however, this all depends on getting this old PC to fire up...although i'm gonna try chat to a few of the others i remember talking to bout the Cobra build and it's technicalities...even if i manage to just refer you to a few people i'll feel like i've helped (= will PM

steve harkness 02-05-2010 09:46 PM

Thanks any info from anyone is excellent as i said i really want to do this and i saw on one of the other threads a subaru based kit so i just need to work out if its possible to do the Stratos or who i need to get in touch with re compliance. If this all works out i guarantee it will be one of the finest replicas ever done.

steve harkness 02-05-2010 09:49 PM

Nice car but not for me thanks

dtrally 02-05-2010 09:52 PM

Do the Stratos replica.
Certainly one of the most beautiful cars ever made.
There is a procedure to follow when building an 'individually construced vehicle' as they call them now. I think the term 'kit car' is outdated. A friend of mine recently licensed a GT40 Ford replica that took about 4 years to build. It's absolutely magnificent, had to jump through a few hoops but nothing a wad of money can't fix.
I'd love to do a Stratos rally car replica with the Alitalia colours and Campagnolo wheels etc. Porn!
