Question Turbo Help

Hi there
Just wanting some advice on a turbo. I want something that will spool up quick and is capibal of aound 20psi. What is best out of these
VF22-23-30-34-35?
Also what is the advantage of a ball-bearing tubo as the 30 and the 35 are not but the others are

Thank heaps

Hmmm, searching in "Mechanical Thread" here or on Rexnet would have been the best way to start. For example: http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/showthread.php?t=492

The best out of them (and only in my opinion and for my wants/needs) is the 34. That answers part of the question - now onto other matters

Front Mount or Top Mount? What other supporting mods have you got? Questions like that need to be answered....

Bear in mind that a turbo upgrade may exceed dutycycle of your current injectors and fuel pump may need to be upgraded. If you dont want to get too carried away then perhaps just look at running slightly higher boost on the lil TD04.

Without clearly stating what you want from the turbo and what your final aims are its kinda pointless taking too much advice at this stage. Driveability is one thing - huge power is another. And then there are all the other costs with upgrading whatever else needs it in conjuction with the turbo.

Do you have a final horsepower figure in mind? Or a time you want to run down the quarter?

And so on......

FM, motec M800, full 3" hiflow cat 4"tip, SAFC2, Turbosmart boost, BOV, Pod filter down into the frount guard.
A 60hp nos sys may be going in once the pistons and headers are done
I want it to hold it's own on the street, but still handle well. Somewhere around the 330-350hp mark on around 20-25 psi. I am running 16psi at around 260hp at the moment

Why are you running a motec with SAFC and a gated boost controller?

The safc2 was fitted with the boost before i got the m800. They aren't really used and are getting remover when i get the turbo. It's just as big a job removing them as it is putting them on so they said they will remover them together

if your serious, a VF34 with a VF35 P15 ported rear housing, quickest spool possible from a single scroll IHI turbo.

/off topic a little... but you're gonna need more than these goodies if you want it to 'handle' as well!
