Ring Jap wholesale, they can supply & fit, Darren 0418559267, pretty good prices compared to most as that is who they will usually buy the motor off anyhow

Buying a secondhand motor can be risky, you never know how many k's they've done or how hard those k's were.

Rebuilding will cost more but at least you'll know it's all new shit. If you throw in a little more for pistons & rods (1500ish) you'll have something a lot stronger then STi ever produced.

But this isn't what you asked... I'd say a second hand mill would be anywhere from 2.5k up to 8k for a new 2.5 crate motor. That obviously doesn’t include any labour.

Out of curiosity, what kind of milage will the EJ20T do before looking at a rebuild in general?

Seeing a lot of MY00's going quite cheaply these days but with upwards of 150k on the clock. Some seem to be a nice buy, but the milage does bother me a touch.

There are R/S's out there with well over 300,000k's with the original motor still going strong so I think it is all down to service intevals & previous owners, also mileage meens SFA, I recently sold a 98 wrx guage pod with 74,000k's, who knows what it went into?

Heh, like anything I guess. My SSS had 160 on it when I bought it (and hasn't moved an inch in 12 months.. lol) but I had a history to back it up and the old engine still ran perfectly when I pulled it out.

Guess I'm just in uncharted territory with the scoobies...
