i'm going second hand so VF34 which seems the best option is very hard to come by. so the options are.....
VF24
VF28
VF35
VF39

What i want to achieve is maximum 16 psi with early spool up and great mid range.

Suggestions?
with the exception of the vf39 which is factory fit on some 2.5 sti's

ALL of these turbos aere too small for use on a 2.5

the gains over your td04 would not be worth the effort.

if you are after a straight bolt on that wiil give a marked improvement and factory appearance I would recommend a vf22

as the 2.5's larger capacity and natural torque should over come the lagginess issues that occur with vf22 equipped 2 litres.

bugger. as i thought they are probably too small.

this "20G" i keep hearing about? is that straight bolt on or does fitting it require modifications? what performance would i expect on 2.5L? starts boost at rpm, max boost?

Member Griffo says he is after second hand.
The VF series are a popular aftermarket choice but the GT Pumps turbos should also be considered, used ones come on the market now and again. They are good value for money. The GTPS01 is about the same size as the vf28, vf35 and vf34- will give excellent spool-up and will produce your target 16psi from (just guessing) 2200 to 4000rpm. After that it drops off, so yes some performance increase over the stock TD04 but not really worth the change.
The GTPS02 is a good match for the 2.5L motor and will give (still guessing) 16psi from 2600 to 6000rpm. TD05-18 or 20g equivalent.
With a different/bigger turbo you should have a retune and bigger than stock exhaust.
Before buying, have a chat with your favorite ecutek tuner.

Another thought- - bigger turbo means you will need to upgrade the intercooler.

V3 RA -
just after posting i realised they must have made a typo on my dyno sheets, and i didnt pick it up! its actually 339nm.

wrx oh oh / pmh -
some awesome info there. GTPS02 seems like the go. and so reasonably priced! the TD05's mentioned wouldnt happen to be the same as what is on 1994 wrx would it? if so i have one in the shed.

a bit of research has told me its actually a 16G i have in my shed! no shaft play and needs a bit of a clean up. and i was gona sell it for about $50!!!!! glad i checked that out!
i'd prefer a 20G so i might see if GTpumps will do a trade off, send them my 16G for a reduced rate on 20G.

cheers for your help guys!
