He'll send the cash transfer(for too much) you'll bank it and the bank will clear the funds, they usually over pay by a couple of thousand and ask you to send the money back which being a nice honest person you kindly do, then a couple of weeks later the bank calls you to tell you the overseas account is stolen/fake/closed & YOU are out of pocket, they have no interest in your car.
Play along and have the cheque sent to your work address so you have a nice scammers trophy.

^= date of joining PWRX???

i reckon best not to have anything more to do with the Malaysian buyer, they'll probably ask for your address (so they can organise the shipping agent) and the car will disappear one night when you're out, or your bank details or some other clever scheme they have concocted.

Agreed, if i must i'll point out the obvious holes here...

"i need this vehicle urgently"
if you needed a vehicle urgently why would you be buying from overseas?!?

"i am presently in Malaysia on business trip and could not come over to check it out...i am willing to handle the pick up of this vehicle through a legitimate shipping agent based in Malaysia"
if you are only away in Malaysia on a business trip why would the car need to be shipped to Malaysia?!?

I'm curious here...

If you bank and clear the original amount, why couldn't you just keep it all then?

Then if you pay back the difference, how are you out of pocket? Wouldn't you have the orginal deposit still?

This sounds more fun than real work!

I usually tell them to go ahead and organise shipping, then give them the local coppers address and phone number, after which I never hear from them again.

I had the same and played along for a few emails. It got to the point where i had to pay about $2000 in to a western union account for shipping first, and then they will pay an extra $4000 for the car. The seller needs to pay the shipping agent.

This is how some scams work...

The money will arrive in your account OK. Possibly as an internal bank to bank transfer
from an OZ account. You think you have clear funds and think Woo Hoo. A few days
later someone will arrive to take your car. All is fine... until

The federal police tell you the money is from an internet banking scam operation and
you have to return the funds. This is done to launder the money and they
have since then sold your car to someone else. They lose money through
each transaction but it makes it harder for people to trace.

My advice is don't do it. Never sell to someone unless you have met them face
to face, and never let them see the car for sale at your house.
