Default sti vs gtst

moving start me and a mate doing 80km/h at the exact same time droped back a gear from 4th to 3rd.

my dyno came in at 212kw ATW
his came in at 158Kw ATW

ive got 3" tbe and unichip, bov running 17psi
hes got 3" cat back and pod filter. running 7 psi - stock

i did slowly pull away, but from slower take offs, he was keeping up and some times i was struggling to keep up with him.

with thoes figures above, i would of thought that wether im a crap driver or not i should of made him cream.

im hell confussed..

i payed 47k for my car he payed 14k and he can keep up 2 me.

damn i need a pat on the shoulder or something right now....

This just shows you how much dyno's figures can vary.

I am guessing you have a 03-04 STI? If so thats roughly a flat - low 13 sec 1/4. He would be lucky to get into the 13's with those mods.

Dont be too concerned as you will out brake , out launch and out corner his very easily.

Maybe you should both go to the same dyno on the same day and compare? might be totally different figures.

not really - moving start he should eventually chop him in the end if he had 212 kw

Do you remember me saying how bs your dyno figure was?
That was an awsome thread it was.

Did you watch Top Gear a couple of weeks ago, they had a Evo FQ400 Vs a Fiat or some small family car, both doing the same speed and both floored it in the same gear, 5th I think. Anyway to cut the story short the EVO got beat by the time they got to the end of the runway. Give it a longer runway and sure the EVO will beat it. In this case it took ages for the Evo to build up boost pressure, just wasn't in the rev range to build up full boost, could be the same issue between you 2. Different gear ratio's, different boost spoolup...etc.

VF34 completely irrelevant if people have a manual gearbox and know how to use it.

Without internals I'd be surprised if you'd get more than 190 atw. Maybe with a turbo the size of your head hitting peak power for 500rpm. When I had simular mods (plus pod & intake pipe) I was around the 160-170 mark. But again dyno figures are just a guide.... blah, blah, blah.

Still pisses ya off that a car a third of the price can be at your door. But put the two cars around a track then I'd say you'd see where the extra money goes. If your were after out right speed a bunky RX7 would have been the way to go.
