Warranty question / advice needed.

Ok, so I bought a car from Centreford about 6 months ago now. (2005 WRX).

The log book, had the 100,000km service signed off, at 92000., which is a big one, its the timing belt etc, and if that snaps apparently its bye bye engine for these.

So, 10,000k's have gone by, and I needed to do the 112,500 service, but it was at 103,000 in which I did it.

Now they told me, after doing the 112,500 service, that the 100,000 service was never actually done, and it was just signed off because "it was the next free space in the service booklet".
They also said that my car wont be covered under warranty if the timing belt snaps, because I never got the service.

Now, my question is this:

I bought the extended warranty, covering all parts etc, now because the service was marked off by a Centreford mechanic, as being done, shouldn't the car be covered under warranty even though it was never done? Just because they signed it off?

Its a confusing situation sort of, and i'd like to know where I stand.

Also, my gearbox needs to be rebuilt, and they've said its covered under warranty etc, any chance I could coax them into putting in a 6spd if it's cheaper? or would they only do the stocky 5spd it comes with?

Can you get them to put that in writing?

6speed wont be cheaper, but my understanding is you don't need to go to a dealership to get warranty work done.

Unfortunately I do need to go to a Ford Dealership for the warranty to be valid.

I can possibly get it in writing, why's that?

Also, whats the cost of rebuilding a 5spd, in comparison to buying a 6spd?

Sounds suss to me. Its a shame you couldnt get hold of the previouse owner to verify if the 100,000 km service was done or not. Another thing thats not right is the fact they carried out the 112,000km service at 103,000km's and then told you that the 100,000k service hadnt been done ??
Maybe ask if you could see a record of the invoice of the 92,000 km logged on the 100,000 km service as evidence of what was and/or wasnt done.
Im sure some of the guys here can offer advice and point you in the right direction;) Cam?:D

My understanding is you need to take it to someone whom can undertake warranty work?

Regarding the rebuilding costs, I'm not a mechanic or work at a dealership so I'm unable to comment,

Do you think you've got what you've paid for?

They did a service before I bought the car, and signed off the 100,000km part.
That's what they told us.
But because it was done at 92000, my next service was due at 102,000, and the next free space in my logbook was the 112,000 service.

I thought I did, however now it seems like they've screwed me over on this.

Are you suggesting theres something I can do, that you're not quite saying yet? haha. PM me if you must?

Should really burn down the dealership in revenge

MY00GC8 01-03-2011 09:36 PM

did they tell you that the 100,000km service had been carried out?
or did u just look at the books, either way id be kicking up a fuss, as youve always been under the impression its done, they should not have stamped the 100,000 section
