Hi all,

Thought I'd pass on the info I received in an email from JapanParts.com today, basically they are going to be starting a buying service for international purchases from the Yahoo Japan Auctions which is the same as Import Monster do over here.

Small items that would be normally bought through import monster always attract gst etc because they're an Aussie company but since JapanParts isn't we won't have to pay gst etc on items under $1k.

Hopefully their fees are reasonable and it should turn out to be a good thing.

Import monster has no gst on items under 1k also.

But good to see an alternative.

Only on items shipped by EMS air mail. Anything that goes into the sea container will have gst and import duties applied regardless of cost. Its because customs count the whole contents of the container as a single import.

Ah fair call - last couple of things Ive organised have been ems.

The above would no doubt apply to any large shipments from others.

Bought quite a few things from Aaron and anything we buy we have to pay gst because its just like every other business in oz that provides goods and services its even in the price/shipping estimator function on the I/M auctions site.

GST and import taxes aren't the same.
