Phil Foster - AFM Corporate.

From all reports, Joe @ AFM is one of the best panel beaters in WA, and you're gonna surely need a fair whack of panel work done on that thing if its repairable!

Well T&R headed out to the holding yard today to determine if it is a write off or if it is worth quoting, I won't find out until tomorrow what their guy found. However I spoke with the guy @ the holding yard and he has seen a few cars and believes mine looks like a write off so looking pretty promising, well as promising as it can in the situation.

The day you find me behind the wheel of an Evo is the day I am putting it into a pole!

Fair call Kym, out of interest, how long from order to delivery as hopefully I will be looking @ this later this week... Any options on yours?

Cheers mate, AFM were second choice as they are just down the road from home. Hoping that it is not going to need panel work but if so, might even get Phil to look at it and quote if T&R don't come in high enough...

Hey mate, I ordered this end of April I think - and delivery is in end of July. So it's been a long wait. No options, just a white, run of the mill wrx. Not many around at the moment! If you are planning on it, I'd go in and see Cam at Subi OP anyway and get the ball rolling.. I held off going in one morning and went in that evening instead, and that cost me an extra 2 months wait, as the white one before mine sold 8 hrs earlier!

Ouch Kym that's harsh... At least you're getting it in the end and the wait was worth it

Teejay I have heard of long waits on golfs but 11 months is crazy, I don't think I would ever buy something if I had to wait that long.

I ended up going with T&R as I called them just before the recommendations for AFM came through. They have been fantastic so far and are helping out with all the phone calls, great customer service.

They are quoting on repair currently, but that is on cosmetic damage only... $10k parts and $10k labour for a bang up job and HBF still want to repair, this is without quoting on mechanical.

They are getting it to their workshop tomorrow and getting it up on the hoist and checking out mechanics and suspension with a fine tooth comb. As it was in gear and spun 10 metres down the road, I am sure there is going to be a fair amount of mechanical damage!

Subaru parts guy will be out there tomorrow so should have some idea by tomorrow afternoon on how the suspension and chassis looks. T&R have said that if the suspension is damaged they will drop the whole assembly out and replace it, from what I can see 2 corners at least. But if they have to replace suspension, surely there will be a heap of other things to go along with it, dont want to think how the gearbox fared out of all of it.

Here's to hoping. I have let both HBF and T&R know I would prefer a write off and T&R are doing all they can.

HBF's assessors will pick the shit out of the quote if they think it's too high, so just be wary of that. Telling them you wanted it written off probably wasn't a good move, but hey... we'll see. My wife heard Siti talking about it yesterday morning - so at least it's being handled... And there should be no other type of job, other than a 'bang up' job.. it should be a quote to put it back into the state it was prior to it being smashed beyond recognition!
