Default Road noise

Hey guys.

Just a quick question..

Im getting alot of road noise on my 18x8.5 tyres. Are they too hard a compound tyre and do i need a softer tyre?

Thanks
Ben

its the other way around... generally a softer high performance tyre will make more noise.

Not worth losing grip going to a quiet tyre IMHO

Depends on a lot of factors, compound is only one of them.
Directional tyres will generally be noisier than non directional tyre.
Tyres with a wider tread will be noisy and tyres made from poor quality rubber like the cheaper Chinese tyres will too.
A good quality sylica based asymmetrical tyre will usually be the best for all round performance.
What tyres are they??

Had the same problem a while back.

Cant hear anything anymore.

They're Dunlop sp600s, I don't find em too bad though the engine noise etc is usually louder than the tyres unless it's a really coarse road

How many km have you done on them now? I've just ticked over 25,000 and was wondering how many km I should expect to get

Performance car = performance tyres = noise.

Can try things like Yokohama S-drives which still keep some performance but are a quieter drive.

You get used to it, or buy a commodore if you want really quiet tyres.
