I have sat in one of these so +1 for awesome seats also where the gear stick is situated adds a very nice feel!...

On another note, the oil recommended for this engine is 0w20...Also takes blue coolant
Where abouts did you sit in one?

Awesome seats much more supportive for a little asian man than my sti seats made for obese people...

Really like the interior, simple but classy. Quick rack feels awesome also....hardly any steering deadzone.

Only thing i didn't like was the engine. Sounded yuk and didn't feel quick at all. I used to have a 2zz celica that felt faster than this.
The steering is electronic AFAIK.

Finally sat in one last night as well. Couldn't be farked with wet laps, so test drive will have to be on the weekend.

I was suprised at the size of the car. Much larger than I expected for the price. Interior on the GTS was well finished for the price too. Front seats were comfy as and even fit my 6'4" brother in with room for a helmet.

Unless you are 5' tall, you will not fit anyone (or much) in the back seats. 6'+ and the seat is basically fully back touching the rears.

Boot space is not bad too and it comes with a full size alloy spare!

I'm very keen to see what Subaru releases/prices which shouldn't be too far away now.

just came back from city toyota after having a look @ the 86
love the shape and the interior, would have liked if the salesman revved it past 3000rpms , was told that they have already sold 8

Funny enough I walked away with the complete opposite impressions to you! I had a sit in some (I saw 4) yesterday. Personally I felt a bit cramped with the seat most of the way back (and pumped it down) but maybe thats just me. I'm only 6'2" and my head was pretty much touching the roof already. I would have to recline the seat to wear a helmet. I tried sitting in the back and other then having my feet crushed my neck was also sore from tilting against the rear glass. Thank god I wont be in the back.

GT interior was rubbish, plastic door cards, and generally a tacky looking interior, but I guess you get what you pay for. It also only had a steelie spare. I'm surprised they didnt have space savers. I thought the boot space was OK but it felt very shallow. GTS was certainly much nicer and I think worth the extra money.

As for what Subaru are doing - isn't it almost a bit of a null point? Its a limited 200 car run for this model year and as far as I was aware almost all of them have been preordered already. I'm curious what the price falls out at though. I was told by a dealer to expect mid 40s but then that was just after Toyota pricing was announced so who knows.

EDIT: The clutch felt extremely light - lightest I've ever driven. Very linear with a high bite point - would take some getting used to thats for sure. Gearbox was also very notchy (triple syncro?) but it was cold. I havn't driven an auto yet although I've heard its an amazing box (for an auto). Haha the one thing I will say - I felt like I was driving with a G25 - the leather round wheel, the notchy gearbox, the light clutch pedal... Anyway.
