Nick Senior you got this one right son.
The BRZ is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2012, possibly prior to Toyota’s June launch of the 86.

taken from MRT newsletter...
A source close to MRT has had a drive of the new Toyota FT86 sports car and has declared it a ripper. Sources also tell us that Subaru is also close to confirming BRZ for the Australian market as well.

....But, far more importantly .... from an engineering source in Japan, we have learnt that the engine mounts in the BRZ have been set so that it is possible to drop an Impreza turbo motor straight into place. This will be an awesome performance upgrade for what already is shaping up to be a stunningly exciting car.

In addition, Subaru Tecnica International Inc.(STI), has announced plans to build a race car based on the new BRZ sports car, and to compete in the GT300 class of the Japanese 2012 SUPER GT series.

STI plans to participate in the GT series in conjunction with R&D Sport and utilise its Boxer engine knowhow, developed through use of the Legacy (known as Liberty is Australia), which has been running in the series since 2009.

Stay tuned!

So who on P-Diddy will be first to purchase one of these and drop a 207/257 into it for maximum skiddy goodness?

This confuses me even more, I've read in another review that the engine is placed as far back & low as possible to help with weight balance & a reverse manifold had to be installed as there was pretty much no room to have the normal piping etc in there. Since it was so far back there would be no way a turbo would fit. (Didn't rule out the lower front mounted turbo in the new Legacy GT's though)

AND, apparently TRD are working on a high-po version with the usual styling upgrades & a supercharger to bring power up to around 190kw. TRD Toyota GT 86 upgrade package revealed - PerformanceDrive | PerformanceDrive

Interesting comments about 4WD and turbo on pg 95.

I'm sure it won't take long for someone to drop a turbo in there. Especially considering the claims of TRD doing the S/C option.
