Just imagine though, through all the marketing etc that has been done by these 2 Japanese giants. Not to mention how crazy the world is going over the slow shitty N/A spec one.

When (not if) a turbo/supercharged version makes it to production, the sales would just go through the roof! They would be hurting their own back pocket by not producing them IMO...

Not if it costs them another few hundred million to develop a turbo version that meets Euro 6/7 emissions.

The hype of these 3 cars cant continue at its current rate. Expect to see sales graphs dip hard ... I give it until early 2013.

Yup. All I can think of is S2000. Epic sales at the start, lackluster soon after.

And that had a bucket load more power.

I am still of the belief that a turbo variant will not appear until the new WRX/STI engine is released.

Electric Turbo could be done for it. Would infact help with emissions aswell due to a better burn.

The big factor is cost and market placement. Add a turbo and you compete with other cars in the market. More power, bigger brakes all adds top the bottom line and then it looses that competitive sales edge. Like the car? Want more power? It's a canvas. Build it DIY style. Not too many stock WRX's around....

This is the car that Honda should have built with the outgoing F20C / F22C.
The massively overpriced S2K at around $80k (2009 figures) on the road is proof you can price yourself out of the game.

I agree. Rumours of new WRX using an electric turbo version of this basic engine platform are floating around.

All I know is the Toyota/Subaru partnership is complete and they are now developing everything separately. That's not to say a turbo version isn't already done. Sounds a bit like Apple marketing. Create something great, take heaps of stuff out and release updates ever year.
