Doubt there is much difference between the intakes, reason to swap them is so everything plugs into your current loom.

He hasn't actually said anything about the bolts, coil from each cylinder? Meaning it has coil on plug or he has mixed things up thinking a lead is a coil? Wording bit difficult to understand!

Coil on plug is better! Would say they converted it from single coil pack to coil on plugs! Read up on rossco's build!

There is one big advantage for the 97 wrx manifold over the early wrx manifold ... Been the intake pipe for the turbo runs under the manifold...

There are a few tricks to swapping later model engines into earlier model cars and vice versa, especially between WRX & Liberty.
You need to swap these items: Complete manifold (sometimes with later model engines the earlier manifold will not bolt to the heads). Complete Engine loom inc coil packs You may find you have to change parts of the crank case ventilation (breathers) to match up as well. Best bet is to get both engines out side by side and swap the parts over as needed. Pay attention to the colour of the coil & injector plugs and re-use factory cable ties to keep the loom away from hotter parts of the engine. You may also find the earlier model engine has separately wired crank/cam angle and knock sensors that need to be swapped over too.
