Steelies and shit tyres are fitted so you can throw them in the bin when the car arrives and fit your own choice of wheels, no point in wasting a good set of alloys and tyres when they will be useless on the track which is the entire purpose of these cars.

Steelies save the factory and buyer money. The idea is to supply a motorsport ready platform vehicle, and stock wheels would come off anyway, so they don't bother to add them.

I think I remember reading that you could order a factory designed/made bolt in roll cage too for a little extra cash.
