Default help/opinions smashed wrx.

firstly hey to all, this is my story/situation. i have a blue wrx now smashed.
my girlfriend was in drivers seat and i was in the passenger, we were sitting at the lights on hepburn and marmion lights when a car just slammed into the back of us at high speed. according to a witness they over took her and just didnt slow down. no skid marks or breaking at all. the fuck wit had a roo bar and reversed up and took off. we got his rego. it has been 5 months since, i havnt worked since plus the police are still feeding me bullshit as to why they havnt caught up with him. car was uninsured.
anyway this is my car and im wanting to know what people think i should/could do. buy an rx impreza and swap everthing or ???

Thats some bad luck right there.

I'd be looking into a victims of crime claim as well mate.

Any chance the car was stolen?

Put the vehicle and rego up that did the runner

Similar thing happened to a friend of mine when I was in the car, she was insured but until she had the drivers details (even though we had full rego and vehicle type) she had to pay her excess. Same deal with the cops, they would go round to the house no one was home, then when someone was home the guy driving it wasn't there, then they worked out who it was (15 year old kid took his dads ute out for a spin on his own) but the kid was never home. Parents said they couldnt control him yadda yadda yadda.

Basically she started ringing the investigating officer twice a day asking what he was doing about it, getting specific details, asking when he was going there next - just hassling the guy to get it sorted. Eventually, even though the officer knew a 15 year old was driving he charged the owner of the vehicle (the father) with the offence and so we could give that to insurance. If you hassle them enough it will become important enough to them to get rid of you and they will sort it out

Sort your health out before worrying about your car mate. And in the mean time hassle the cops and whomever else every day to get their shit sorted!

Are you proposing he cut his car in half and then weld a new rear end onto it? Is that even legal?

why haven't you work since ? clam through 3rd party for injury ?

you clam against the car that hit you ( provide the rego ) > the police statement > a witness statement (?) the above photo and allow your insurance company peruse the clam as you have a rego number.

They fix the car or wright it off

or you had no insurance at all ?? ( noted you had no insurance after re-reading ) < this must be mandatory

i havnt worked since. i was actually taking the last mouthful of a drink at the time of impact so i was pretty much looking at the roof when bang. it is all my back and neck. its fucked really. but im starting to look to what im gonna do with my car as ive had nothing to do for 5 months except doctors and physio. its been a long drawn out process but i had an MRI today finally.
i wont do anything with my car until the guy is charged then i get his name address etc.
i have lawyers etc for the compensation claim but that cant be looked at until my injuries firstly are pin pointed and then stabilised. once they know how long my injuries will take to fix/treat or they are there forever then they can put a claim through.
