GC8 needs aftermarket ecu as you can't retune them as easily.

GD+ there is no need for aftermarket unless you have a specific application that needs it.

Agreed, although it depends on what the Autronic sm3 gsl was offering cost - I'd weigh that option up as well. I know the OP said they "weren't going to go over the top" with mods......yet: "yet" being the operative word. The extra flexibilty of the autronics sm3 would be nice if it wasn't priced overly high and dependent on the OP's end goal I guess.

MMS can do ecutek tunes on my99/00 now withour MRT's presence, unsure of their current tuner situation atm though -_-

smashing antilag at meet points in a 10 second cosworth built sti sounds pretty specific to me

now other option i have is of course the power fc... so just questions on pricing:

power fc: $1000 second hand, what do they go for brand new?
