Turbo timers are pointless because you only need to drive your car nicely for about 2mins before finish driving to "cool" the turbo.

Also it leaves your igintion wires open for someone to pinch your car.

Also, welcome!

They were useful 25 years ago when turbo technology wasn't as good as it is now.

Turbo is oil and water cooled. No need for a timer to run it down.

Fair enough, I suppose the manufacturers addressed the problem after warrantee claims - otherwise they would fit them themselves. Joining this site has allready saved me $200 or so!

Subaru have always said that if their cars needed turbo timers, they'd fit them from factory.

You want to personalise the car, I assume that means cosmetically, what's your budget?

Both cosmetically and - more importantly - performance, really want to make it handle well.

Custom plates or slimline ones, not sure about stereo, bodywork, lights and lenses. Good wheels are a must, although I will keep the stockies for track use. The interior is immaculate and doesn't need changing although a momo gearknob to match the wheel would be nice. My wife reckons it needs a big SUBARU or IMPREZA sticker
over the top of the windscreen, but I'm not so sure. Probably will avoid the STi wannabe look.

No specific budget, will pay as I go. I have a reasonable amount of disposable income but don't want to dump a heap on the car as it will all be lost come selling time. The car has 129K kms and will sell
it when it gets close to 200K. Probably in about 5 years time.

As Kym, said, a budget would help us a lot.

Cosmetics: Do you what makes you happy. There are enough opinions in this thread and there are a few cracking looking bug-eyes on perth-wrx.

Maybe someone can throw up an exterior pic of BALISTC, a damn fine example of a bug done perfectly (if money is no object I must add).

Handling:

Lowering springs (no more than 15-20mm if you want to preserve the OEM struts)
Adjustable sway bars (Whiteline / PERRIN / Cusco, there are a lot of brands)
Anti-Lift kit (as above, many brands)
Roll centre adjusters (as above, many brands)

Do those 4 basic modifications and you will immediately feel the difference in the way the car transfers weight through a corner (much flatter and more composed). Best to go see the professionals @ STechnic or Wheels World and ask their advice for a setup (there are a lot of different setups for sway bars and they all suit different drivers/ driving styles, one size does not fit all in this regard).

Happy modding mate
