West Racing
Has anyone delt with Tim Slako and West Racing before.
What do you guys think of the work and more importantly dyno tunning with motec computers? He has been around for a while it sounds like cheers |

He's a gentleman to deal with and has a wealth of experience, his tuning is extra safe and wouldnt be the most 'powerful' of tunes when it comes to turbo cars, more so high afr's with minimal timing. Having said that he's very thorough with driveability and reknown for smooth tunes.
Also bare in mind that tuning is not a one day process - it will require a major power tune (dyno) and several 'top ups' to iron out the hiccups (road).

also note that WestRacing do not have their own All Wheel Dyno (they usually hire one for the occation)
apart from that, Tim (and Jamie) both have no bullshit attitude and are extremely pleasant to deal with. never done a motec tune there but tim did a fantastic job on my old unichip. free plug |

Ive got a Slacko tune in my Motec powered Liberty As it comes onto boost, its so rich the dyno cant read it (ie sub 10's) So your safe in that manner. Driveability is also quite good too. Starting ever so slightly an issue, but not bad considering he didnt get to do a cold start tune on it. Ill see how the planned retune affects overall things. I like to think theres some timing available to bring boost on earlier, and more top end power with a little less fuel.

Yep as above. Tim and Jamie are friendly and knowledgeable. I’ve been with them for 5yrs with a coupla cars, no motor has blown up yet. They do unichip and motec. If you wanna be picky, you can complain about them not being subi specialists, there is usually an assortment of interesting vehicles in the shop, no waiting room with receptionists and magazines, and not having their own 4wd dyno. They are conservative in approach and will argue with you if have wild ideas.

yea i've heard only gd things about him haven't had anything done by him yet but he has been around for ages, was a champion race drive i've heard so i guess he'd know how to compromise between performance and engine saftey with a slight bias on performance...
he always has some sweet cars there, i'f i'm at my olds shop late haveing a beer he turns ozzy park into a race track doing his street tunes and not haveing to worry about all the shit house drivers in ozzy pk.

agree with you guys..
top bloke, really easy to talk to and doesnt bullshit you into something you dont need.. hang near the shop and youll see some serious road tuning going on! unfortunatley had a poor tune from them, felt a bit pingy, checked afr's on psi dyno same day and it was detonating under load and a bit of heat.. re-tune 2 hrs after west racing did it for safety.. told tim, he refunded "some" cash and never went back except to have a beer with a nice bloke after work one day..

I have never personally dealt with him but got a very high recommendation from a bloke I worked with at the HBI plant in hedland. This guy had a porsche modified by him and was extremelly happy with what the place did for him. The mechanic I used to have for my soarer used him once as he knew shitloads about Soarers, especially the V8's which is a rarity in WA as nobody knew how to fix them properly, he sent the ECU off to him to take a look at it when it was doing some very weird fuelling problems and after it came back from the company, it never happened again so I was as happy as a pig in shit.
