Just continue with the Bug Eye thread. No need to start a new one as this car is also ALLPAWS

Tomei Ti Cat-back install:

Did this today, very easy install with the hoist and removing the stock piping that was only 3700km old. Sounds fantastic, not too loud on idle but opens up to a deep throaty rumble when pushed, I'm a very happy boy today. Also noticed the throttle response has smoothed out a bit and possibly revving a bit quicker and easier. I'm sure it has even liberated a few kilowatts and as a bonus its 16kg lighter than the stock system :)

New Enkei RPF1's in Gold 17x9 offset +45. Fitted with some sticky 255/40/17 Yokohama AD08R's. None of this stretched skinny tyre, heavy rim, stance rubbish with silly camber and scraping and rubbing everything in sight. Props for Soksta as I somewhat did the same thing he did. Our cars look the bloody same now.

On the road, car feels a bit more 'dartier' - if there is such a word, with negligible increase in NHV due to stiffer sidewalls in the tyres.

mitchwnz 17-09-2014 06:30 PM

I really love those Enkei rims, they just set the car off. Saw Soksta's car a few weeks back and just loved them.. it's honestly nice to see smaller rims that look so damn good. Well done mate!

ALLPAWS 17-09-2014 08:50 PM

Thanx Mitch, they look smaller in the pics than in the flesh somehow. Well they were not bought for looks, could have gone some XXR's etc. but as I will be chasing lap times this set up seamed the best overall choice. It was a tough choice as I have been guilty of putting Dubs on an RX-7 in the past . . .

Since the back seats don't get used . . .out they go!
Doing this and further stripping out the boot lost another 28kg,
now up to a total of 75kg of weight loss from the standard car.
Threw in an unused doona to reduce any extra NVH.

MY00GC8 14-01-2015 08:21 AM

i like the idea of that verti-cooler! very cool idea!

no pun intended

Master D 14-01-2015 10:57 AM

how do you find the drone?

TROLLEY 14-01-2015 11:10 AM

You will cop a yellow if you get pulled over and Mr. Plod sees the rear seats removed.

Soksta 14-01-2015 11:13 AM

Dogs scratched the seats up and are getting repaired, should have them back next week....

Not too sure how that would pan out, but it has got a mate of mine out of trouble before.
Mind you he was driving sedately and not asking for trouble.

Not if he removes all the seat belts and gets it registered as a 2 seater.

RUSSGT 14-01-2015 01:21 PM

LOL i drove my car for about a year with nothing in the rear. You'll be fine mate

nick73 14-01-2015 04:52 PM

Did you put the weight of the doona back into your calculations?

DukeDrifter 14-01-2015 07:03 PM

I in no way mean this as an insult by is the Process West Verti-cooler the equivalent of the poor mans V-mount? Assuming it has better airflow over a generic tmic whilst not having the lag associated with a fmic but not having the same surface area?

RUSSGT 14-01-2015 09:08 PM

To me it looks like a great design. Plus remember with a v mount you lose AC etc. This looks like the best of both worlds minus the problems.

Tony 14-01-2015 09:36 PM

I really hope they can make this work for the Gd chassis.

ALLPAWS 15-01-2015 08:21 AM

Happy with the VC TMIC. Was never interested in a front or v-mount set-up. I do want to cover the turbo and wrap the down pipe to reduce heat transfer to the 'cooler (especially when stationary) Kinda wish that I ordered the black one tho.

I am aware that I could get in trouble for the seats removed and prepared to take that risk. Doona cover was taken in to consideration for weight measurements and there is no drone with this setup.

Looking into tuning options now, got a couple of grand to spend on the car from the sale of a bike. Brakes will probably stay stock until they are shagged. Haven't got any definite plans for them, open to suggestions and it will depend on budget at the time.

nick73 15-01-2015 09:34 AM

Are you replacing your down pipe before tuning? If so try and get one with a flex joint in it, my x-force doesn't have one and it introduced some harshness and vibration to my car.

ALLPAWS 15-01-2015 08:18 PM

All bets are off now, the other half bought a GT-R today!

DukeDrifter 15-01-2015 08:44 PM

When the plates are on I will. Was going to send a link but the add has been taken down. Can't wait to take it for a spin, I missed out yesterday evening due to work.

Haha, stepped up if anything, can't let my Mrs have a faster car than me. Though I'm afraid to say that the GT-R will eventually be the 'new' ALLPAWS.

baylee 16-01-2015 06:58 AM

Curious Dave, what's your business?
Only asking so I can plan my new business venture to justify a gtr for tax write-off / promo car.... ;-)

You better throw out that doona and the front seats too if you want to beat the gtr.
