Hi guys and gals just picked up my 2000 gt today and its remote central locking is on the key . Went to change the battery tonight as a precaution and was told that it wouldnt work after i took the old battery out something about the key is chipped or something??? I was told that i would have to get subaru to change the battery. This didnt sound right to me just thought i would ask you opinions CHEERS

i think you can just change it without a problem

shouldnt be a problem at all. i changed my battery and had no dramas with it at all

i had the same problem with my 99 wrx had to get a guy to come and change a code in the immobiliser and central locking system cost me about $150 callout charge on saturday and $60 for new remote. still have original remote as a spare

Just changed my MY00 too, without any worries.

I didn't even anticipate/consider a security issue with a key!
