225/18/40.

OEM are 225/45R17?
Using a tyre size calculator, the above will put you at 0.5% faster than OEM.

Faster??? I think you got that one wrong...It's slower.

Your odo will read wrong because of rolling diameter... with 5.14% loss with 235/45 r18 means that when your odo is reading 100km/hr you are actually doing 94.86 km/hr...to do 100 your Odo will need to be at 105.14! lol

best size is 235/40 R18....only 1.69% loss...so at 100 you're at 98.31 km/hr which is close enough!

If just for looks then 245s will do great as it will cover more of the rim but you will have a 5% speedo to actual speed difference as described above

8.5's will easily take a 245 width tyre as standard on G3 sti's. Is yours a 2010/11 wide body or narrow body wrx?

I think 235 is for the look, as when cornering side wall suffers more bending force as which it should take compression force. Unless u wanna go drifting, then get some rock hard coilover too

245 is perfect as sti use 18x8.5 with 245 tyres. But be warned it gives harsher ride and much more rolling resistance.

I'm running 235s on my 8.5 and there is zero stretch whatsoever.
