Ok..maybe that's the reason why Subaru dropped the price by $10k.

Do you guys think they will increase it again once the new engine is used?

If that's the case, I probably will just buy this one..if not, I'm happy to wait.

direct injection tech is from toyota and world class, toyo got some good performance handling tech too obviously. FA wrx seems to have better potential as a tuner car than the sti right now.. im thinking the ej257 will be retired in next 2 years. hopefully sti take there time and develop bulletproof Di 2 litre for us. then back to the wrc! yew!

Unfortunately, I think it is the North American market that is keeping the EJ257 alive at the moment. Bigger isn't always better hasn't quite sunk in there completely yet. Or, they have a shit load (std unit of measurement) of EJ blocks sitting around they can't move.

Ok..I won't be waiting that long that's for sure.

I have narrowed it down to 3 cars now..the 2015 sti, Mercedes A45 AMG and a 2014 HSV GTS

A new sti will be about $62k drive away with a 2 month wait, the A45 will be $88k drive away with a 6 month wait, the GTS will be $93k driveaway with no wait.

sti pros: great handling, enough power for a stock car, great price!
cons: interior looks/feels cheap (still miles ahead from the previous models but still not on par with the other 2 cars)..the price is cheap so I don't mind this but I wish the body had bigger pumped guards like the previous wide body model

A45 pros: awesome power, awesome exhaust note, launch control, nice interior, nice looking exterior too
cons: expensive for a hot hatch, expensive to service, long wait

GTS pros: so much power and torque, launch control, nice interior, quite cheap for what you get (only $5k more than the AMG), no wait
cons: rear wheel drive, doesn't look agressive enough, drinks like a fish (but I really don't mind this because my current GT drinks heaps too..its really a weekend car)

Right now I have crossed out the AMG as its way more expensive than the sti and if I'm going to spend that much, I may as well spend $5k more the GTS.

So that leaves me with 2 options and I really don't know which way to go. The sti is such a good price (I wouldn't have even considered going back to a Subaru if it wasn't for the $10k price drop) but I went to City Subaru last Saturday to take a good look but just did not like the shape and interior and the car did not feel any faster than my previous MY09 rex. I love the power and interior of the GTS but wish the body was more agressive looking!!

Really dont know if I should just go with the sti or spend $30k more for the GTS but after reading what you guys have posted, I think I will get the GTS and get the sti 3 years down the track when they change over to the FA engine.

FPV F6 - great tuning potential and bang for buck.

I'd be looking at an Audi S3 if I had a budget up to $100k

Pros: Audi build quality inside, outside, on top, underneath, everywhere
Cons: No blowjobs included in price

Never thought I would say this but the new GTS is absolute quality, the power and delivery to the tarmac is an absolute mind blowing thrill! It handles more like a European than its predecessors and is worth the extra cash! The electronic control you have in the car also left me extremely impressed, trackable off the shelf.

The downside is expect anything less than an average fuel consumption of 17/20L your kidding yourself.
